An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.
An Ancient Chinese Belief
This belief is commonly used among parents of adopted Chinese children to signify our paths were meant to cross. Along the journey to adopt both my daughter Leah and Kate, I have met some incredible people. As if we all too, shared a red thread connection. One of those awesome people, is Sara. I met her through blogland–she has a family blog and I had one as well, that was a great way of recording our family activities and our journey’s to adopt. We just instantly hit it off. Sara is witty, hilarious and has a beautiful soul. We stayed in touch almost weekly as we waited anxiously for her beautiful Mya and my Kate the last couple of years. We comforted each other in times when the wait seemed endless and celebrated with each other the joys of seeing our daughter’s faces for the first time…it’s been well over 3 years of sweet comforting comments on our respective blogs and private emails…but we had never met or even talked on the phone…until now. We capitalized on an opportunity to meet while she happened to come to Louisville for a reunion.
It was no shock to me that in person, Sara is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, and her family is absolutely precious. What a joy it was to have the opportunity to meet, talk in person and take their photos. No doubt in my mind at all, there is a red thread that has woven our friendship over the years. Life is so cool like that.
This handsome young man is pursuing his dream of acting and needed some head shots to help nab future roles. His proud mama saw these photos, an immediately sent back an email “He’s so HOT, HOT, HOT!”…I didn’t even know he could give looks like that!!” Seriously, how cute is that? I have known this gentleman for the past 5 years and he is just the nicest guy with loads of talent. I hope these photos get him the notice he deserves. Here’s a sneak peek….
This is a gorgeous professional photographer that I have worked with and have become fast friends with over the past several years. The trouble with being a photographer is that you hardly ever find yourself on the other end of the lens, although I hardly call this trouble because I HATE to have my photo made! We both needed head shots for work, so we swapped services. Here’s a few shots from that session…
My girl….and don’t worry, despite this very good impression of a serious look, milliseconds after I took this photo, she was giggling and trying to play a trick on me….
This little girl stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on her over 4 years ago. She’s beautiful in every way, born with more strength and courage than you could ever put into words.
Sneak peak for an absolutely precious family celebrating some big milestones, so happy to be the lucky one to photograph them. Happy Gotcha day, little one…you have blessed so many lives!
He’s getting ready to go out into the world with a great head on his shoulders…already planning on a career in broadcasting. His awesome parents are obviously beaming proud of their son, and the camera…holy cow, it sure does love him too.
Miss M. is seriously, without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST colorist in the city of Louisville…I won’t go to anyone else, she’s spoiled me for life. I had the privilege of taking her and her co-worker and best friend (also a phenomenal stylist) photos along with Miss M’s little man….oh, what a doll. His personality just made my heart melt. We braved 20 degree weather for this session…but so well worth it! This was one of my favorite shoots to date. I love the venue they chose because the creative potential is endless, plus it doesn’t hurt they were all gorgeous!
This family is full of precious gems! Recently home from adopting from China, I was so honored to take their first “official” family photos. Their girls are angels and they are literally some of the nicest people on the planet. Loved seeing you all and hope to get together soon!
Hands down, one the coolest Halloween costumes I’ve ever seen on a little girl…she totally rocked it!
